Report of Chief Administrative Officer

 

Administrator’s Report=

Mr. Douville reported on the following items:

 

·        On the evening of December 12 and the morning = of December 13, 2004, the Lordco Automotive Parts building on Cowichan Tribes land (south-side of Trunk Road) burned to the ground. This is a major loss for the Company and for the community.

·        All Christmas decorations are now in place, in= cluding the Oak trees in Charle= s Hoey Park.

·        Four/five outside employees are away everyday = at the present time as they are using all of their remaining 2004 holiday entitlement.

·        The Public Works Superintendent is working with the Director of Finance on the 2005 Budget.

·        The Inflow and Infiltration contract work commenced on December 13, 2004.

 &= nbsp;    AND WHEREAS an additional $1,000.00 to the approved amount of $2,400.00 h= as been paid since 2000;

On a question from Counci= llor Kent,= the Administrator advised that all main arterial streets receive line paintin= g on an annual basis and other areas receive line painting on a two-year cycle. Some years, budget limitations do not permit attention to be given to all areas in the City. It was suggested that this portion of the 2005 Budget = be reviewed closely during budget deliberations.

Mayor Coleman noted that = this would be the last Council meeting for volunteer Shaw TV cameraman Tom MacNeil. He is pursuing his education in the photography and lighting discipline and will no longer be able to volunteer for Shawcable. Mayor Coleman thanked him for his efforts over the last 3 years and wished him = well in his education.
