City of Duncan's Urban Forest Strategy

DRAFT - Urban Forest Strategy

Questions may be addressed to James van Hemert, Director of Development Services, at 250-746-6126.

The City of Duncan is currently developing an Urban Forest Strategy which will build upon the Official Community Plan and the recently completed Green Streets Inventory (available at www.duncan.ca under CityHall >Reports).

Diamond Head Consulting Ltd., a Vancouver-based company specializing in forest and ecosystem management, was been selected to assist in this endeavour.

We thank those that responded to the survey

An Urban Forest is more than just trees and forest cover. It is a system which includes water, soil, vegetation, wildlife and natural processes that are all integral to ecological health. The Urban Forest Strategy will provide direction to manage these important values and ensure that they are sustained over the long-term. By protecting, maintaining and enhancing the urban forest, we are ensuring that citizens of Duncan will continue to enjoy the many social, health, and economic benefits that are provided by a healthy environment.
